Besides, man, you think we've got a shortage of doctors now? Wait until we have a school system that only occasionally produces extremely brilliant men, and everyone else is pretty much illiterate.

There still IS a private tutor system, it's called homeschool, and if you're rich enough you can pull your kids out of public school and have them educated by private tutors if you want. I don't see it producing a hell of a lot of Thomas Jeffersons, these days; on the other hand, until recently, the US had one of the most broadly educated populations on the planet.

Chris Braak

"Successful" in what sense?

"Successful" in what sense?

Chris Braak

Hahah

Hahah. $100,000 security detail. Except, you keep saying "unsolved", which isn't exactly the same thing, so you see my problem, right? Sure, YOU say unsolved, maybe when you mean unpunished. What did the book reviewer say? (Also, he is a book reviewer, that's not the same thing as a fact-checker.) He said unpunished, but what did the book's author say? I don't know, there was no quote.

It is true that if you google "Unsolved Venezuelan Murders", then you do get more information (though not, incidentally, that unsourced 96% number) — though, obviously, if YOU had done that, you could have linked to something like Semana or the Venzuelan Observatory of Violence reports, instead of a book review which, no matter what you think, does not count as a source.

On the other hand, in I guess unrelated news — hahahah, there is a lot of debate as to why this has happened! The general consensus is: politicized judges, underpaid government employees, nationwide militia movements, and vast numbers of small arms in civilian hands.

I guess this is what the US has to look forward to?

Chris Braak

Haha, man, that is a book review.

Haha, man, that is a book review.
